NOTICE: Equipment Violations
There has been concerns voiced by officials within TAMHA that players are not wearing their protective equipment properly, particularly when it comes to helmets and neck guards. Players have been wearing their facemask loosely which creates “hang”. When wearing a helmet with a loose facemask, any contact with the player could cause the cage to strike the players face, potentially causing injury. A properly worn face protector should fit to allow one finger to be placed snugly between the bottom of the chin and the chin cup of the protector and should lock into the "J" hooks on the sides of the helmet. These "J" hooks are necessary for proper fitting. See image below.
Also, neck guards are being worn in all sorts of ways that do not protect the neck. We cannot stress enough, the importance of the neck guard as an injury to the neck could be devastating and life threatening. Taping, twisting, hiding, or reducing the size of the neck guard in any way is not a safe practice and is unacceptable.
Officials within TAMHA will be strictly enforcing equipment violations of rule 10.6 - Illegal Equipment. Equipment standards are listed in Rule 3.6 - Protective Equipment. Penalties may include minor penalty, a misconduct penalty or even a gross misconduct penalty should a player refuse to wear their protective equipment properly.
TAMHA takes player safety seriously. Please be responsible with your safety equipment and help others be safe as well.
Thank you for your cooperation.
